Signed and Dated Peter Helk "Auto Art" Exhibition Poster (1979)

"Auto Art" Exhibition Poster produced for the inaugural 1979 auto art exhibition held at the Interlaken Inn in Lakeville, Connecticut, a fitting venue located near the storied Lime Rock Park race track. Helk was a well known American illustrator and artist who specialized in depicting vintage race cars. He was a frequent visitor to my Father's gallery and frame shop in the 1970's and inscribed a copy of his  book, "Great Auto Races" to him. 

Note: Although we cannot guarantee the authenticity of the signature, it is exceedingly likely that it is authentic. Helk lived locally, and exhibited locally at the Interlaken exhibition; the poster was matted and framed by a local framer, and the item was procured locally. For what it is worth, the signature is consistent with the inscription signature in his book inscribed to my father.

Size: We have not had the poster out of its frame. Framed size: 27 1/4" x 32 1/4," Image size: 22" x 26 3/4"

Condition: Very Good to Fine. Very slight rippling at top mat edge. Professionally matted and framed. Sturdy metal frame.
